Print Magazine
This image is from Print Magazine's 2012 Illustration Competition. This one caught my eye because of the bright and saturated colors against a beautiful dark background which really makes the text and images pop. It's such a clever idea, and I love the typography. It has a very organic feel to it that I love, and the arrangement of the text on the bottom is framed nicely by the art on top.

Tattly Designs
This is from How Magazine. I thought this was fresh and fun. It's a design company called "Tattly" that strives to make temporary tattoos cool again. They design really cool and fun temp tattoos for kids of all ages. They were saying that they were tired of the really bad temporary ones you see in grocery stores or gas stations, so they created this line where you can buy some really cool ones! I love this idea, and some of their designs are really cool that I may just get some!

Tad Carpenter - Communication Arts
Tad Carpenter is one of the "fresh" talent on Communication Arts Magazine. I absolutely love his work, and I absolutely love Radiohead so of course I needed to blog about this. His illustrations are original and creative and modern, and grasp your attention and intrigues you to want to see more. This is a great poster for Radiohead, knowing the nature of the band and what kind of music they produce. I will be looking to Tad as inspiration from now on!

Homework 11 Design Firm
Since our homework this week was to research design firms, I loved the one I got to research and was very inspired because they have all kinds of awesome and funky posters. Since we are getting ready to work on our own posters, this design firm gave me a lot of inspiration. This particular poster combines realistic photographs as well as modern and funky graphics and type. I love how fun it is and how it makes your eye move around the page like a dance. I will definitely be referring to them more often. Thanks homework 11!

Homework 10
Since we were exploring CMYK Magazine this week, I went and found this little beauty. It's a poster created for people to enter a design contest that was from July. I love the in-your-face bold colors and how they pop on a black background. The typography is also very whimsical and creative and all the swirly lines leads my eye around the balloons and discovering new illustrations as it takes my eye around. It's so much fun and it would definitely entice me to want to enter this contest!

Fun Packaging
This is from Print magazine and I couldn't pass this one up. A design firm in California designed these earbud packages for Audiobox Accessories. What a cute and clever idea. It just makes you smile. I bet all the art directors and designers had a really fun time with this one. I particularly like the one with the blue hat and the white glasses. It's simple but very effective in what they were trying to do. Makes me want to go get some Audiobox earbuds!

October 10th
This is from CMYK Magazine and this portrait is a watercolor by graphic designer Marta Spendowska. I love it when a graphic designer also has roots in painting or illustration. I myself am an avid painter and it is where I first got started into art and wanting to put my painting skills onto the computer. This image of Cate Blanchett is so beautiful, it has an abstract quality to it that I love, yet you can still recognize the actress.

Homework 6
This is from Communication Arts magazine. It was from a woman designer that did these designs for an organic grocery store in Colorado. Everything these days is all about organic and healthy, which is great but sometimes can be boring. That's why I loved this design; it's so fun and whimsical! It's simple, and almost looks like something that you would see in a children's story book. I'm a child at heart so that's probably why I was drawn to this particular design. I also love the typography. I'm a typography nerd and I love fun and quirky type. Now I want to go to this grocery store :) See, good job designer! You made me want to go to a Colorado grocery store.

Homework 5 - Logos
Since we are getting ready to head to Project 2, I started to get my brain thinking on logos. This is from the Logo Lounge blog that was given to us as inspiration for the next project. I love all the examples they give and how creative all the logos are. This one I love. The departing of the butterflies off the octagon and then the grid tile is so simple but visually pleasing and modern. If you look at them, the shapes are simple, but then if you look at the big picture it stimulates the brain and is really fun and creative.

Homework 4
This is an image out of the Computer Arts magazine. It's a poster for Nike's China campaign. It couples live-action shots of Sharapova with curious, intricately crafted illustrations. It's so eye-catching and beautiful and I love the detailed illustration that has a lot of motion to it. Since it's an action shot of the tennis star you automatically get the sense of motion and unity even though it's not realistic and makes sense. It's very balanced by the nike logo and then draws your eye down through her lower "body" and then down to her racket.
Creativity for Graphic Designers
This image is actually from our class book "Creativity for Graphic Designers". As I was doing the homework, I was flipping through the whole book and just looking at all of the images and I came across this one. It is a business card that I thought was incredibly clever. I am a typography lover, and I always love finding clever typography that makes me go "Why couldn't I have thought of that!". It's so simple yet so clever at the same time and I love how typography can be creative. It can be the image itself and convey a strong message.

Computer Arts Magazine- Lampshades
This is an image I saw in the "Computer Arts" magazine. It caught my attention because of the playfulness and explosion of illustration and color. These are lamp shades created by Swedish designers Dizel&Sate as part of their Stay Creative collection of home accessories. How fun this would be to have in my home! It's contemporary yet vintage, with a very kitsch style to it as well. Although it's very loud and vibrant, I think it all flows well together with keeping the theme of illustrations together as well as color choice. If I had these in my home, I would feel cool for sure and smile every time I looked at them! It would always give me creative inspiration.
